Unhurried Support for the People Managing Retirement Records
Quietude was established to bring calm and clarity to the paperwork side of retirement — not by giving advice, but by helping people understand and organise what they already have.
← Back to HomeHow Quietude Came to Be
Quietude began in Kuala Lumpur after a small group of individuals noticed a consistent gap in what was available to people approaching retirement. There were lawyers, financial planners, and government helpdesks — all useful in the right context — but very little for people at an earlier stage: those who simply needed to understand what their documents said and where to start looking for the ones they could not find.
The name Quietude reflects the tone we try to bring to the work. Retirement paperwork is rarely urgent in the way a tax deadline is urgent, but it often feels unsettling when you sit down with a box of statements and letters spanning three or four decades and two or three employers. Our aim is to reduce that unsettlement through plain-language explanation and orderly, methodical organisation.
We are not financial advisers, lawyers, or agents of any institution. We explain what documents are, help you build a clear file, and make sure you know where to go for formal advice when you need it. That boundary is not a limitation — it is what allows us to remain focused on the clerical and educational work that most people actually need first.
Our office is located at 16-3 Jalan Kia Peng in Kuala Lumpur. Sessions and individual appointments are held here, and we keep the schedule deliberately manageable so that each person or family gets the attention their situation warrants.
What We Are Here to Do
Clarify
We translate the language of contribution statements, fund documents, and employer records into plain English, so that a person who has not worked in finance can follow exactly what each document contains.
Organise
We help people build a single, clearly indexed file — whether on paper or in a cloud folder — that anyone can navigate, including a professional adviser or a family member stepping in to help.
Direct
Where formal advice is needed, we point people toward the right kind of practitioner. Our extended engagements include a directory of registered advisers so that the handoff is straightforward.
The People Behind Quietude
Siti Rahayu
Siti has spent fifteen years working in administrative and records management roles across the public and private sectors in Malaysia. She developed the orientation session format and leads all small-group programmes.
Krishnamurthy Lakshmanan
Krishnamurthy specialises in the indexing and filing work within the Personal Records Organisation Programme and extended coordination engagements. He is methodical, patient, and experienced with complex multi-employer paper trails.
Nora Bt. Baharuddin
Nora manages scheduling, enquiries, and client communications. She is the first point of contact at Quietude and ensures that each person's questions are directed to the right member of the team.
How We Work
Clear Scope of Work
Every engagement begins with a written description of what the work covers and — equally importantly — what it does not cover. We do not allow scope creep into areas that require professional licensing.
Personal Data Protection
Documents and personal details shared with us are used solely for the purpose of the engagement. We comply with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 and do not transfer data to unrelated third parties.
Written Summaries
At the end of each programme, clients receive a written summary of what was done — what documents are in the file, what is still missing, and where to request outstanding records.
No Representation
We do not act as agents, do not correspond with institutions on a client's behalf, and do not advise on entitlements. Where formal action is required, clients deal directly with the institution concerned.
Plain Language
All materials — workbooks, glossaries, index sheets, and summaries — are written in plain English accessible to someone with no background in finance or administration.
Referral to Practitioners
Extended engagements include a state-specific directory of registered financial planners and legal practitioners, so that clients have a clear path to formal advice when organisational work is complete.
Retirement Records Work in Malaysia
Managing retirement and provident fund records in Malaysia involves navigating documents from multiple sources — the Employees Provident Fund, former employers, government pension schemes, and in some cases private arrangement records that span different regulatory eras. Many individuals find themselves in possession of a large volume of paper without a clear picture of how it fits together.
Quietude's work sits at the point before formal advice is needed. Our orientation sessions cover the structure and language of common retirement documents, giving attendees the vocabulary and context to have more productive conversations with advisers, family members, or institutional helpdesks. Our records organisation programmes produce a coherent, indexed file that serves as the foundation for whatever formal step comes next.
For families dealing with complicated histories — long careers, multiple employers, gaps in contribution records, or records kept in different formats across different decades — our coordination and referral support provides a methodical way to bring everything into one place and prepare a clear, neutral summary for any qualified professional engaged separately.
The work Quietude does is clerical and educational. It does not substitute for legal, financial, or regulatory advice. What it does is reduce the time and confusion that often precede those conversations, so that when a person finally sits down with a professional adviser, they arrive with a clear file and a clear set of questions rather than a box of unsorted paper.
A Good Place to Begin Is a Conversation
Tell us what you are working with — a box of old statements, a missing year of contributions, or an upcoming appointment with an adviser — and we will suggest the most suitable service.
